Ammama Mehboob

Ammama Malik is a Pakistani contemporary painter whose work draws from Baroque and Renaissance traditions while examining themes of femininity, presence and identity through a contemporary lens. Known for her dramatic use of light, shadow and drapery, Malik creates emotionally charged figurative works that feel both intimate and theatrical.

Trained in painting at the National College of Arts (NCA), Rawalpindi, and later at the Florence Academy of Art in Italy, her practice is grounded in classical realism while remaining deeply connected to contemporary cultural narratives. Her works often centre veiled female figures, using gesture, fabric and atmosphere to explore silence, strength and spatial presence.

Malik has exhibited internationally, including at ARCO Madrid, ARCO Lisboa, Asia Now Paris and the India Art Fair, alongside exhibitions at leading galleries and institutions in Pakistan.
